THIRD PLACE IN “THE TOUGH ONE”!

Hi guys!
“The Tough One” has been my first extreme race of this season, and I’ve got a good third place, which highly satisfies and motivates me, specially considering that I had to stay one whole month off, due to an appendectomy surgery.
It’s been a fast race, about 3 hours on a Cross-Country format, with neither special difficulties nor too technical sections, mainly on sandy soil, quite close to Hawkstone Park motocross track, to the north of Birmingham.
Starting was “Le Mans” style, with all the racers running to our bikes as soon as the green flag falled down. My start was quite good, just behind Walker, even though Knight and Bolton quickly overtook me.
I took it easy in the first part of the race, as we have planned two refuelling stops, and we also knew that we had a long race ahead.
Once the first refuelling was completed, I got the third place with Bolton trying to keep my pace, but he slowly started to loose terrain, and eventually lost contact with me. There were just Walker and Knight in front of me, on a quite strong pace, about 5 minutes ahead.
At the second refuelling Graham seized me, but instead of fighting, I let him go and stayed a whole lap behind him, watching him to learn that my rithm was faster, and that I was able to get away. There were still 40 minutes left of race, and I pulled hard until the chequered flag, securing the third place overall.
I would like to thank my team Bel-Ray Factory Husqvarna for a well done job, and also Red Bull for supporting me. I believe we are going in the right direction, and at “Erzberg”, next stop, we will be able to fight for the top spots.
See you all next week at Santiago de Compostela, were I will race at the Spanish National Enduro Championship.
Thanks for supporting!
